Pastor, Ruling Elder
Jim Brackman is a Pastor for the Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Waskom, Texas, serving the Ark-La-Tex community. Jim and his wife Teresa are blessed with two sons and three grandchildren, residing in Shreveport, Louisiana since 1992.
Pastor Brackman’s rich and vibrant history is grounded in music and devout love of the Lord. He was involved in the full-time gospel ministry since 1972, with roots in the 700 Club, from the pulpit to the stage, performing across the domestic United States with music legends – the Oak Ridge Boys, The Blackwoods, Andre Crouch and The Archers. Decades of music and the ministry started with Pastor Brackman earning a Master’s Degree in Theology from Los Angeles University.
Jim Brackman served for the Bakersfield Community Church in Bakersfield, California for over 14 years, eventually becoming an Associate Pastor. In 1988, Pastor Brackman relocated to Dallas, Texas where he taught “The New Believers Class” for Church On The Rock. In 1992, Jim returned to Louisiana to look after his ailing parents, taking care of them until they went home to be with the Lord. Steadfast and faithful, Pastor Brackman served for nearly 20 years at the Shreveport-Bossier Rescue Mission as Director of Men’s Programs. While there, he continued to further his education, becoming a certified Drug/Alcohol Counselor and member in good standing with LASACT (Louisiana Association of Substance Abuse Counselors and Trainers).
Pastor Brackman left the Mission in 2016, to take the helm of the EFPC in Waskom, Texas, where his charismatic preaching, based on the pure Rhema – the word of God – continues to inspire and grow its diverse congregation. Under Pastor Brackman’s empowering leadership, this historical church is on fire for the Lord and is enthusiastically involved in Evangelism Explosion.
In his free time, Pastor Brackman hosts a radio show featured on KBCL 1070 AM radio, at 6:00 am and 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday, in association with “The Bridge,” a weekly Christian newspaper publication, in association with Barnabas Center Ministries.
